There is an interesting news article and a video clip of the Guernsey athletes preparing for the Island Games on the Channel Islands TV website today. As ever, they will have a strong team, with a mix of promising young athletes and established seniors.
It is revealed that their star runner Lee Merrien will only be competing in the Half Marathon event in the Isle of Wight, which he will be using as part of his build-up towards the World Championships marathon in Daegu later in the summer. I must admit to being a little disappointed as I was really looking forward to him and Keith Gerrard going head to head in at least one race - Keith is doing the 1500m and 5000m. Maybe in Bermuda!
