Appropriately for an Isle of Man based blog, the name Kelly is really in the news at the moment. Following Dame Kelly Holmes visit to the island yesterday, it has been revealed that there is a strong chance that her fellow Olympian Kelly Sotherton will be competing in the 100m and 200m events at next month’s Natwest Island Games. Kelly S launched her international athletics career by competing for the Isle of Wight in the 1997 and 1999 Island Games, and she is still holds the records for the 100m and 100m hurdles events which she set in Jersey in 1997.

Over the weekend the blog will take a look back to how the Isle of Man’s athletics team got on the last time the Isle of Wight hosted the Island Games back in 1993. Then early next week the next three athlete profiles will be published – these will focus on Tom Riley, Rachael Franklin and Kevin Loundes.
